Is He Waiting for You too?
Do you ever feel like life is such a blur of “busy” that you don’t even get time alone with God?!
This analogy often plays in my mind…..
Jesus and I have a breakfast date at a cafe. We agree on the time. He shows up, actually early, just in case we can have more time to talk. And He waits. I rush around, glancing at the clock, hurrying with my to-do list, the babies need to be cuddled and fed. I kiss my husband and chat with him for a couple minutes, throw the laundry in the washer, whip up a batch of bread for lunch, answer my phone and counsel a hurting friend. Finally, I crash on the couch for two minutes to check my phone notifications before running out the door to a ministry appointment. Then, it happens. I glance at the clock. I missed it! My meeting with Jesus. Oops. I tell Him I’m so sorry but I completely spaced our time together. I can hear His voice filled with love, and He says “I know you did. But I still love you. And I’ll be here when you’re ready. I can’t wait to share with you how much you mean to me.”
And so it happens. Day after day. Week after week. When will I STOP?! What if I treat my kids and husband like I treat Him?!
“Not right now.”
“Too busy.”
“Oops, I’m so sorry. I forgot.”
Worthless excuses for the One Who gave everything for me.
Friend, take that time TODAY. Stop and listen to His sweet voice. Meet Him. He’s been waiting. You’ve just been in too much of a hurry to even care. But, oh, sweet mama, when you do take that time, I promise you it will be sweeter than you could ever imagine. Resting at His feet. Hearing His words. Basking in His presence.
