Hello friends, I hope that you all had a great Valentine’s Day weekend! As I mentioned in my previous post, I told you that I would share what my husband and I did for Valentine’s.
We planned a few weeks ago to attend the Linger Conference in Frisco, TX. In case you have never heard of this event, you can read all about it here from my blog post last year. Basically, it’s a time set aside for believers to worship, rest, reset, and recharge. We all need times like these if we’re honest!
We left a day earlier so we could “detour” though Waco, TX to try out Jo’s new coffee shop, as well as to make another special stop. In regards to that stop, if you follow me on Instagram, then you already know that I had a custom coffee mug designed and made to sell in my shop. If you do not follow me, you can click here to follow along!
Just for a brief overview of the mug:
‘New Morning – New Mercies.’ This phrase has spoken volumes to me over the last year and last few months. You see, we don’t like to post our bad days on Social Media…only the good times, right?? But if I’m totally honest and transparent, the last few months have been really difficult for me in many ways…BUT…God’s mercies gives me strength.every.morning. With that being said, this mug is a little more personal for me, and I hope that you can also be encouraged that if you’re in a rough season in your life, God’s mercies are NEW every day. Today is a NEW day. I’m thankful for fresh starts and NEW beginnings! ☀️ This mug is based off of the scripture in Lamentations 3:22-23, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
If you would like to have one of these mugs, you can purchase it here.
The company, Black Oak Art, that made the mugs for me is located just outside of Waco, TX and although it was not planned as part of our trip, Micah encouraged me to look them up and stop in. I’m so glad we did! I was able to meet the owner and employees who made my mugs, see the stamp that they used for the mugs, as well as take a tour of the shop where all the production happens…by the owner himself!
Another super cool fact is that they not only make custom mugs for small shops like mine, but they make custom mugs for Joanna Gaines store, Magnolia Market. 😮💛 In fact, we were told that she is their largest client! I was able to watch the team in action as they were making mugs for Jo. I was almost as excited about seeing this as I was my own mugs! Haha
I have been excited about visiting the new coffee shop, Magnolia Press, ever since I heard that it was opening! It has delicious coffee and pastries, and the atmosphere did not disappoint! If you are a coffee lover, then you will love this coffee shop!
Magnolia Market and and The Silos Baking Co. is within walking distance to the coffee shop, although we did not walk because it was really cold! For warmer weather though, it’s perfect to be able to park your car and do everything! We did enjoy a hotdog from one of the food trucks, and a cupcake from the bakery of course. Oh, and let’s not forget the sweet tea!
The Linger Conference started on Valentine’s Day. I won’t go into a lot of detail about the conference here, as I mentioned that you can read more of a detailed blog post about it from last year. You can also click here to follow the Linger IG account that has lots of details and photos. We really enjoyed the messages and worship through the songs while we were there!
We tried out several new restaurants and foods while we were there, including a “Dr. Pepper” cake on Valentine’s Day. ❤️ It was so good and moist! Our favorite restaurant was Biscuit. If you love breakfast food, then you would love this place! We also tried macaroons for the first time from a place called Le Macaroon in Frisco.
On our last day in Texas, (Sunday) we decided to visit Dr. Tony Evan’s church, Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, for the morning worship service before flying home. Micah has been of fan of his preaching for several years. I bought Micah the study Bible that Dr. Evans published last year for Christmas. Micah was honored to meet Dr. Evans , as well as have him to sign the study Bible.
Well that’s a wrap! We enjoyed our time in Texas. 💛
Until my next blog post,
Laura
