Kindness is Fashionable.

Remember your words can plant gardens or burn whole forests down. – Gemma Troy

Our words to each other can be compared to what water is to flowers. Just as a flower needs water to grow, we as individuals thrive on kind and positive words. Kindness will make even the most physically unattractive person beautiful! Kind words will build up those who are discouraged. A simple “I’ve been thinking about you today,” or “I’m praying for you” can mean the whole world to someone that feels lonely. “A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!” (Proverbs 15:23) A smile and simple words of kindness can change someone’s entire day!!

On the contrary, a flower can only go so long without water until it dies. It’s kind of like harsh words. Being unkind has the ability to tear down someone’s spirit. You never truly know what a person may be going through, and the power of our words can either make or break a person. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue:” (Proverbs 18:21) Sometimes it’s not necessarily the words we say…it’s the tone of voice in which we say them.

And then there’s the “G” word…Gossip. Do you know just how many friendships and relationships have been destroyed because of rumors…things that aren’t even true…or if they were true, they certainly aren’t by the time the conversation finishes making its rounds?! “A dishonest man spreads strife, and a whisperer separates close friends.” (Proverbs 16:28) If we would pray for our friends as much as we talk about them, so many hurt feelings and damaged relationships would be avoided!

This is just something that I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. Let’s choose our words and how we say them carefully. Kindness is always fashionable! 🌷🌷
